Hi Rhyan,
I just thought I would say hi and let you know that Duncan is doing well.
He turned 2 today and is as healthy as he could possibly be. He is weighing
in at about 60 lbs and is just as fun as ever.
I started a new hobby of brewing my own beer and he is the official mascot
of my so called brewery. I called it Duncanwood Brewery and he is the
picture on most of the labels that I make for the different beers. I am
sending you a few of the photos from that.
We are also gearing up for our annual hunting trip. I took him last year
since we have an older guy that doesn't hunt; he just stays in the camp and
tends to it so I thought that he would like the company. I guess last year
Duncan mostly slept in my cot while I was out, but the guy said that he
would come out and play with him every once in a while. So I am taking him
again this year. I got a new 12X14 foot tent this year with a wood burning
stove to keep the tent warm so I think Duncan will like it better this year.
He still likes to play with his ball, seems to almost always have one near
him. He stays in shape with our morning jog of about 3 miles and if we miss
it he seems to be very restless.
I have a couple of close friends that have kids and he does very well with
them. He lets them pull on his ears, hang all over him and he doesn't seem
to mind at all. He is super gentle with the kids, which made me very happy
as my girlfriend and I are talking marriage and starting a family in the
next couple years. I am sure that he will be jealous of my kid, but I am
not worried about anything. The only aggression that I have ever seen out
of him is towards the squirrels that are in the back yard. They seem to
torment him by running along the fence and chattering at him. He has only
been able to catch one, and he didn't even kill it. I was worried that the
thing was going to bite him, but to the best of my inspection he suffered no
injury from the whole thing.
Again I want to thank you for one of the best dogs that I have ever owned.
He is active, playful, gentle in every way (except when we are wrestling on
the floor, then he seems to beat me up), and is very capable of taking care
of himself without destroying things when I am at work (my 48 hour shifts as
a firefighter). To date he has only chewed up a pair of work gloves and my
pager, which I left on vibrate, on the coffee table. I am sure he thought it
was a great toy vibrating on the table. I didn't find it till the snow
melted off in the back yard. So in two years I can't complain about too
much.
I just thought you would like the update and pictures.
